Our partners in the military sector choose us for our expertise in sheet metal fabrication, manual and robotic GMAW welding, manual GTAW welding, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly and testing. Our highly trained staff of engineers, machinists, mechanics and welders work diligently from project start to finish to bring each of our clients the best possible final product.
Qualified Welding Services
At K-zell Metals, we specialize in qualified welding services for the defense industry. Welding for different branches of the United States military requires meeting multiple welding standards that are the basis for ensuring the quality of critical welded joints. K-zell Metals has developed and tested welding procedures for multiple carbon steel and stainless steel alloys using both manual and robotic GMAW along with manual GTAW processes. These procedures have been approved for use on equipment for several different branches of the US Military. These procedures as used in our Quality system assure the necessary weld quality and validate the capability and repeatability of both manual and robotic welding operators.
Precision Fabrication Services
K-zell Metals, produces both large and small sheet metal components that are laser cut, press brake formed, welded and / or assembled with other components to make a piece of equipment that most often is assembled into a much larger machine, ship or vehicle.
K-zell Metals works with our partners to ensure we understand the dimensional and performance requirements of our work product. We review tolerances required and then process the individual parts to minimize tolerance stack up. Often we hold detail parts to tighter tolerances than called for so the assemblies easily meet the final dimensional requirements. Similarly we define extra welding sequence steps to minimize weld distortion.
Our state of the art processing equipment makes these changes more effective. Our fiber laser makes very accurate and repeatable parts. Our CNC press Brakes hold bend leg lengths and angles. Similarly our CNC tube bender is interfaced with our portable Romer arm and dials in bend angles and lengths with minimal trial and error.
Caption for Ammo Cans at Robot photo - For one customer we combined laser cut and formed sheet metal parts with CNC bent square tubing into a robotically GMAW welded ammo storage system for a vehicle.
Caption at Pintles at Robot On this project we combined laser cut and formed parts and robotic GMAW welding a number of carbon steel parts to fabricate a machine mount where part distortion had to be kept to an absolute minimum.
Caption Perforated Aluminum Marine Gas Turbine inlet silencer - This project required qualification of manual GTAW welding procedures for thin perforated aluminum sheets. In addition special procedures were required to protect the interior sound insulation from heat damage during final seal welding.
Caption SS Emergency Air inlet Bypass System. In addition to requiring both manual GMAW and GTAW welding procedures, special weld sequencing was required to minimize weld distortion. K-zell Metals also provided mechanical assembly and pneumatic testing of the completed product.
Caption for Gas Turbine inlet moisture separator. For this project K-zell Metals fabricated a stainless steel housing and encased the customer’s dynamic moisture separator elements in sub housings, mounted filter elements, cleaned and packaged the finished equipment.
Caption for Aluminum Gas Turbine Inlet Air filtration K-zell Metals cut, formed ,assembled and mounted aluminum covers to on the Inlet air filtration system for a Gas Turbine engine for a marine vessel. The covers protect the equipment from contamination during shipboard installation.
Caption for Detail of Robotic weld on Military vehicle seat support. A close up photo of the consistent robotic weld quality produced on a project fabricating blast-resistant seat supports for a military vehicle. The robotic welding not only provided consistent weld quality, it also minimized heat input in the weld and resulted in minimal weld distortion.
